Partner video: how we film it
Crew
| Role | Who | Job |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Deston | Phone setup, AE/AF lock, framing on the grid, calls "rolling" |
| Sound + clap | Favian | Mic on, clap at the start of every take, listens back to one take per line |
| Script + take log | Ella | Cues each line, logs the best take (line # + take #) |
| Set + BTS | Kasish | Floor marks, tripod tape, clean background, BTS clips on a second phone |
Kit
| What | How |
|---|---|
| Camera | A phone on a tripod or stack of books, at eye height. Back camera, not selfie |
| Mode | 4K, 30fps. Landscape for the main film. Leave space above and below your head so we can crop vertical later |
| Sound | Clip-on mic on the speaker's collar. Phones off silent, aircon off while recording |
| Light | Face a window. Never sit with the window behind you |
| Background | Plain wall or a tidy desk with a laptop. Nothing with words on it |
| Wear | Plain tops, no logos, no thin stripes. Same outfit for all your takes |
How each take works
- Camera rolls. Hold still for 2 seconds, then clap once in shot (this syncs the mic).
- Wait 1 second, say the line, hold your last look for 2 seconds after.
- Do each line 3 times: normal, a bit faster, a bit warmer. Don't stop if you stumble, just restart the line.
- Then film 5 seconds of the same shot with nobody in it (a clean plate, we need it for the graphics).
Keep it matching between shots
- Never move the camera. Tape around the tripod legs (or the book stack) so it goes back to the same spot. Stay at 1x zoom.
- Tape a floor mark for each spot people stand or sit. Same mark for the same setup.
- Lock focus + brightness: long-press the screen until it says AE/AF Lock. Brightness jumping between takes is the one thing we can't fix later.
- Grid on: everyone's eyes sit on the top grid line.
- Pass-the-line bits and the final group shot: film all four in one setup, back to back, without touching anything.
- Hand moments (palm up, open hand, tapping the air): hold still 2 seconds. Graphics get placed on each clip after, so small differences in where your hand ends up are fine.
- Same outfit, same window light: film it all within about an hour.
Where to look
- Talking to them: look straight into the lens, not the screen.
- Looking at a graphic: we add graphics after, so you look at an empty spot. Pick a real object there (a sticky note on the wall) so everyone's eyes go to the same place.
- Only look away from the lens when the script says you react to something.
Moves per line (v7)
| Line | Who | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| "If you run a nonprofit, you probably know this poster." | Dylan (voice) | No filming, graphics only |
| "Hi, I'm Dylan from TalentOpus..." | Dylan | Walk 2 steps into frame, stop on your mark, then speak. Small smile |
| "Quick background..." | Dylan | Sit on the desk edge. On "heart", touch your chest lightly. On "give nonprofits some back", open one hand to the side (a card will land there) |
| "Say you're running an open day..." | Alyssa | Glance down-left at the empty spot (the poster appears there), then back to lens on "people you serve" |
| "Now, you could post a listing and wait..." | Kai Yu | Shrug slightly on "wait for replies". On "We went the other way", flick your hand left to right (the screen flips with it) |
| "Let me show you..." up to "the reason's right there" | Shayaan | Sit at a laptop, screen facing you. Look at the screen on "you'll notice". On "right there", tap the top edge of the screen (the match reason rises out of the laptop towards camera) |
| "So now the poster's back..." | Shayaan | Hold your hand flat at chest height, palm up, still for 2 seconds (the proof card lands on it) |
| "You're probably wondering..." | Dylan | Lean in a little, like you're letting them in on something |
| The 8 quick questions | Dylan, Alyssa, Kai Yu, Shayaan (2 each) | Each person: ask the question to lens, pause half a beat, tap the air beside your head on the answer (the feature pops up there). Keep it fast and light |
| "And that's the whole flow..." | Dylan | Standing, calm. Nod once on "signs it off" |
| "It's free during the pilot..." | Alyssa | Say "honestly" like you mean it, slight laugh is fine |
| "All you do is..." | Kai Yu | Count the three things on your fingers |
| "That's everything from me..." | Dylan | Step back into the group of four |
| "Join the pilot." | All four | In a row, shoulder to shoulder, say it together on a 3-count. Do 5 takes |
Extra footage (5 min, anyone)
- Hands typing on a laptop (no screen visible)
- A hand putting a poster on a wall
- Two people looking at a laptop and nodding
- Someone sticking a sticky note on a long list, then crossing one off
- The team walking into frame together
